Beach Collages
—treasures and trash alike brought together to create semi-permanent installations
The Concept—
Finding treasures on the beach is nothing new; but what if we left our treasure collection as a piece of public art?
Over 3 summers; I created a new installation at every beach I visited with the unique treasures I found giving way to the art itself.
The Materials—
Each location’s offerings were as uniques as the beach itself. Whether stones, shells, or seaweed, I allowed the materials to speak to me and give birth to a unique and sustainable piece of art.
The Process—
Each work started with a walk; hunting for shape, color and texture. Assembly was a play between light, shadow, and composition.
The Final Product—
These images are the only remnants of this art series.
Each collage reflects the location from which it came and that days haul tells a story.
